Commonly known as Rover Bellflower or Rampion Bellflower
An ornamental perennial that can grow from 2-4 feet and has aesthetic qualities that can complement a flower bed. The creeping bellflower has purple, bell shaped flowers that flower during the hot summer months.
The creeping bellflower gets its name from their rootstocks that are hardy and move from beds to other unwanted areas easily making it a troublesome pest. The creeping bellflower can also crowd out other wanted bellflowers due to it’s ambivalence on sun or shade.
Cultivation rarely results in removing the weed so full removal of all roots and seeds are necessary to control. This may prove to be very difficult. Often the best control is with non-selective herbicides where applicable.
