The dandelion is the most common weed in lawns and fields in our area. It can show in yards, pastures, and waste areas. It can compete with the crop for water and nutrients. Easily identifiable by its yellow flower it spreads quickly via its greyish seeds. Dandelions are often used for beneficial uses such as salads, beer making, wine and tea.
Control of the perennial dandelion can be difficult as the seeds can be dispersed from far away. A well-kept lawn can be highly beneficial to keeping dandelions from germinating. That, along with a combination of a non-selective herbicides, can keep this pest from your yard.
